GILBERT, Ariz. – The Park University Gilbert men's volleyball team (7-9, 4-2 Cal Pac) held off a game University of Saint Katherine team 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-21) to move a half game behind second place UC-Merced in the Cal Pac Conference.
Each set was tightly contested with both teams going on small runs to take a lead or to even the gap. The Bucs were able to find the winning formula at the end of each set with a key block or kill to secure victory.
Trent Williams led the way with 10 kills for the Buccaneers, while Seth Golleher was perfect from the floor for the second time this season with seven kills and no errors.
Setter Kye Heaton dished out 23 assists on the night. To go along with five digs and a block.
On tap next for the Bucs is a matchup with UC-Merced with second place on the line, The Bobcats are 9-9 overall and 4-1 in the Cal Pac with their only conference defeat coming at the hands of seventh-ranked Benedictine- Mesa. The Sunday, March 8 match is slated for 12 p.m. at the Nest at San Tan Charter School.
