Irvine, Calif. – The softball team at Park University Gilbert concluded their roadtrip to Westcliff with a ninth inning 4-0 win over the Warriors, extending their California Pacific Conference record to 6-1.
The morning was marked by stellar pitching from Abril Nerey and a handful of ninth inning runs from Gabby Romero, Anissa Corrales, Danielle Farinas, and Carolina Olivas.
On trend, Nerey kept the Buccaneers in the game, pitching nine innings and allowing just seven hits.
Park found themselves scrambling for runs in the top of the ninth. Following a wild pitch from Emily Rosas, Farinas and Corrales were able to advance bases, just before Romero stepped up to bat. She hit off a single RBI, bringing Farinas through to home.
Olivas followed up with a two-run single of her own, forcing the Buccaneers into a 3-0 lead. Nerey capped her already successful morning with an RBI single to close out the inning. Farinas and Olivas went 2-4 at the plate with Olivas completing a team high of two RBI.
Due to inclement weather, the second match up against Westcliff has been moved to April 16, with the double header against San Diego Christian College being postponed to a later date, yet to be set.
