Sika Ties Single-Game Steals Record as Bucs Fall to ERAU

PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert men's basketball team (5-7, 0-3) lost to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles (7-5, 1-2) by a score of 91-72, Saturday afternoon in Prescott, Ariz.

This high-scoring affair, between two teams vying for their first win in Great Southwest Athletic Conference play, saw the Buccaneers shoot 45.3% from the field while Embry-Riddle shot 61%. Defensively, Park-Gilbert allowed the most points in a game since Nov. 22, when the Bucs fell to Benedictine Mesa.

Buccaneers guard Toate Sika, who led the team in scoring with 17 points, also logged six steals on the defensive end. The former GSAC Defensive Player of the Week now ties fellow teammate Mahlik Lindsey for the Park-Gilbert single-game steal record. Lindsey recorded his six steals last season, in Park-Gilbert's home win over Life Pacific back in February.

Four Park-Gilbert players found themselves in double-digit scoring figures for the second time this season. The last time that happened was in the team's season-opening win against West Coast Baptist on Oct. 29.

Forward Tyson Banks recorded 12 points, shooting 50% from the field. Guards Kenyon Williams and Caleb Ivy logged 11 and 10 points respectively, as each of them played their second game this season. Williams and Ivy led the charge on the bench as the Buccaneer reserves combined for 29 points.

Defensively, the Eagles held Park's starting guards Tanner Pate and Mahlik Lindsey to six points each, on 30% and 40% shooting respectively.

The Buccaneers return to the court this Monday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. MST, when they host the No. 6 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats (9-2, 2-2) at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
