Bucs Fall to RV Rocky Mountain in Cactus Classic

CHANDLER, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert men's basketball team (5-9, 0-3) lost to the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears (9-2, 5-2) by a score of 66-60, Wednesday afternoon at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, Ariz.

The Buccaneers fell in their lone contest at the 2025 Cactus Classic, hosted by Arizona Christian University at CGCC. Park-Gilbert now moves to 1-4 all-time against Rocky Mountain, a team that received votes in the latest NAIA Top-25 Poll.

Park-Gilbert shot 40% from the field and 12.5% from downtown in the first half of this contest, as they trailed by five at the break. Guard Mahlik Lindsey and forward David Onyeogaziri led the way with eight and six points respectively.

Both teams scored 33 points in the second half as Park shot 32.1% from the field to Rocky Mountain's 40.9%. In this frame, defense won the day as the Bucs and Bears were held to 33.3% and 16.7% shooting from the perimeter.

Three Buccaneers found themselves in double-digit scoring figures Wednesday afternoon, with Lindsey logging a team-high 15 points. Lindsey shot 46.2% from the field while also recording four assists and a steal. Onyeogaziri scored 10 points and shot an efficient 4-4 from the field. Guard Toate Sika was three rebounds shy of a double-double as he scored 10 points with seven boards.

Overall, Park-Gilbert shot 36.2% from the field and 23.5% from three-point land.

The Buccaneers return to the court tomorrow, Dec. 18 at 3 p.m. MST, when they host the Trinity Christian Trolls (5-6, 3-2) at the BENU PEC in Mesa, Ariz. This will be the final game of the 2025 calendar year with conference play resuming on Jan. 3.
