The Park University Gilbert women's basketball team fell to No. 15 Oregon Tech this afternoon 110-72 at the Oregon Tech Classic in Klamath Falls, Ore. The Buccaneers fall to 2-4 on the season with three of four losses coming at the hands of ranked opposition.
Park-Gilbert played competitively with OIT in the second and third quarters where they scored 28 and 20 points respectively. But it was a poor first and fourth quarter which did in the Buccaneers this afternoon.
The Bucs were outscored 51-24 in the first and final frames which put the Bucs in a deficit too large to overcome.
There were some bright spots for the Bucs in this game despite the final score. Junior guard Alli Cummings scored a season high 16 points to lead the team, while freshman Symirah Gray continues her impressive start to her career, posting 15 points.
Cummings was 4-6 from three-point range, while Gray got to the free throw line with regularity making 7-8 from the charity stripe.
Yuli Garcia led the team with five assists and four steals. Senior Larken Hoar and junior Jelissa Julmist both corralled five rebounds to lead the squad. Julmist also set a season high in scoring with 12 points.
Park-Gilbert now returns home for their next three games. It starts next Thursday, November 20 as they host Stanton University at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz., at 5:30 p.m.
